Well that was a wet start to the month; I think I have just got myself dry after this morning’s trip to the Malvern’s. It was a lovely walk around the hills but unfortunately not many birds were seen. We still managed sightings of whitethroat and some members were lucky enough to see a redstart, which as usual I missed. I don’t think I will ever get to see one. There are though many more trips this month so maybe some of these will produce some sunshine and lots of birds. There are a couple of midweek events this month visiting local sites around Chalford and Strawberry Banks. We will also be going to a Wiltshire reserve and also Dinas RSPB in mid Wales . At the end of the month we have a trip to the Forest of Dean looking for Nightjars hopefully we can get a view of this elusive bird and also get a chance to hear their strange call.
